What it costs

Most forklift companies make you call before they tell you anything. Here are our starting prices. Every one is a real figure from real jobs.

JobPriceNotes
Call-out / trip chargeNo chargeWe do not bill you for arriving
Preventive maintenance visitfrom $80Per truck. The rate depends on the truck
Battery replacementfrom $180
Hydraulic hose replacementfrom $250Including hydraulic oil top-up
Oil seal kitfrom $250Depends on the complexity of the job
Brake overhaulfrom $900Depends on the model
Tyre replacementfrom $250 per pairFitted. Size and type vary widely

Why every price says "from". A 1.5 tonne electric and a 5 tonne diesel are not the same job, so we quote per truck rather than pretend one number fits every machine. Send us the brand and model and you get a real figure the same day.

The jobs we are called out for most

The forklift will not start

Nothing on the dash at all, or the dash lights up but the truck will not move? Those are two different faults. Usually it is a flat or failing battery, a loose or burnt battery connector, the isolator left pulled out, a seat switch that cannot feel the operator, or a direction lever that was not cycled through neutral.

What we do: on-site diagnosis, battery and charging system test, connector and isolator check, interlock check, and we tell you what it is before any part is ordered.

Price: no call-out charge. Battery replacement from $180.

It drives but will not lift, or lifts too slowly

The mast creeps down under load, lifts in steps, will not reach full height, or is fine empty and hopeless loaded. Usually hydraulic oil level, a tired pump, worn seals, or a load that is beyond capacity at that height — capacity falls as the mast rises, and falls further with an attachment fitted.

What we do: check the oil level and condition with the mast fully lowered, because checking it raised gives a false reading. Then pressure test, seal and hose inspection, and a capacity check against the data plate.

Price: seal kit from $250, depending on complexity.

There is oil on the floor

A puddle where the truck was parked. Red is hydraulic. Dark is engine oil. Usually a split hose, a failed cylinder seal, or ordinary wear on a lift or tilt cylinder.

What we do: trace the leak to its source, replace the hose or seal kit, refill and pressure test, then clean down so the next leak is obvious.

Price: hose replacement with oil top-up from $250. Seal kit from $250.

Do not keep running it while it leaks. Once the oil is out, the parts inside knock against each other. A $250 hose turns into a four figure overhaul.

The brakes do not feel right

Squealing, slow to stop, a pedal that goes soft, or a handbrake that will not hold on a slope.

A complete overhaul covers brake pads, shaft seal, hub seal, wheel cylinder, handbrake cable, brake master pump, drum rebuild and fluid.

Price: full overhaul from $900, depending on the model. A simple pad or cable job is quoted after we have looked at it, and it is far less.

There is a code on the screen

Photograph it and send it to us. We will tell you what it means before anyone drives out, and we do not charge for that.

We keep an indexed fault library of 4,460 entries covering 2,368 distinct fault codes across 7 brands, alongside 1,959 service manuals. It exists because two things catch people out:

Send us a photo of the screen, a photo of the data plate, and the hour meter reading. You get the actual fault back, usually within the hour.

Price: free to look up. Any repair is quoted after.

The tyres are worn

The ride has gone rough, the truck feels unsteady at height, or you can see the wear line. We replace on site or at our workshop. Regrooving is possible on some tyres and we will tell you honestly when it is worth doing and when it is not.

Price: from $250 per pair, fitted.

Tyre size does not follow from tonnage. Two 3 tonne trucks can take completely different tyres. We check the data plate and what is actually fitted, not a chart.

When it is not worth repairing

Sometimes the honest answer is to stop spending. If the same truck is back for a third time this year, if the repair costs more than the truck is worth, or if it is out of parts support, we will say so — and show you what a replacement or a rental costs instead. We would rather keep the customer than win the invoice.

How often, and who decides

A diesel truck is officially serviced every 200 to 250 hours. Most customers take a quarterly contract, and half yearly also works.

We do not force an interval on anyone. It depends on how hard the truck actually works. A machine on one shift a week does not need what a machine on two shifts a day needs, and we will say so rather than sell you visits you do not need.

What we service

We service and repair all makes, not just what we sell: Toyota, BYD, Mima, Zowell and more. Electric, diesel, counterbalance, reach truck, VNA, pallet truck and stacker.

Preventive maintenance (PM) contracts

Preventive maintenance keeps a forklift safe and stops small faults becoming big repair bills. Our PM visits start from $80 per visit. We set the cadence to how hard the truck works, typically two to three visits a year, and we track every truck so the next PM is never missed.

Breakdown repair

When a truck goes down, production stops. Call or WhatsApp us and we respond within 4 hours, diagnose on site where we can, and quote clearly before any chargeable repair. There is no call-out fee. If a part is needed, we tell you the cost and lead time up front.

Parts, tyres and hydraulic hoses

We supply and fit the wear items that keep a truck working: tyres, hydraulic hoses, filters, forks and common spares. One call for the fault and the fix.

Our own workshop and technicians

M&C runs its own workshop with its own technicians. That means we control the quality and the timeline, rather than passing your truck to a third party. bizSAFE 3 certified.

Servicing for rented and used trucks

If you rent from us, servicing is included. If you buy a used truck from us, it has already been checked and serviced by the same workshop that will look after it.

My forklift is only used a few hours a week. Can I stretch the interval?

Only up to a point. Hours drive wear, but time drives the rest — seals dry out, grease separates, batteries self-discharge and brake fluid takes in moisture whether the truck moves or not. Service at least every 6 months even on a low-hour truck.

Is there a checklist I can give my operators?

Yes. Our daily pre-shift checklist is free to use, and every M&C service ends with a signed inspection report you can show an auditor.

Renting instead of owning? Servicing is normally the rental company's problem, not yours. That is one of the biggest hidden savings we cover on our forklift rental Singapore page.

Is Servicing a Legal Requirement in Singapore?

Yes, in substance. Under the Workplace Safety and Health Act, employers must ensure machinery at the workplace is safe and properly maintained. The WSH Guidelines on Safe Operation of Forklift Trucks spell out what that looks like in practice: maintain the truck to the manufacturer's schedule, keep maintenance records, and take faulty forklifts out of service until repaired.

Daily pre-use checks by the operator are part of the same regime. We cover operator duties, certification and the 3-year refresher rule in our forklift safety rules guide.

If MOM inspects your site after an incident, your maintenance log is one of the first things they will ask for. A missing log is a very bad look.

The Real Cost of Skipping a Service

Skipping a PM feels like saving money. It is usually the opposite.

Battery Care: Where Most Electric Forklift Money Is Lost

Electric forklifts are simpler to maintain than diesel, but the battery is the single most expensive component on the truck. Treat it well and a lead-acid battery gives you around 1,000 to 1,500 charge cycles, roughly five years on single-shift work. Treat it badly and you can halve that.

The rules for lead-acid batteries

Lithium is different

Lithium batteries tolerate opportunity charging well and need no watering, which is why they suit multi-shift operations. Many Zowell electric models, including the VNA range, are available with lithium options. Ask us which chemistry fits your duty cycle before you commit.

Servicing records are part of your compliance

A maintenance history that shows a truck was looked after, rather than only repaired when it failed, is one of the things behind every forklift inspection. See what MOM looks at when it inspects your forklift.

What it costs over a year

PM visits start at $80, but the visit price is only part of the answer. What a year actually costs depends on how many visits the truck needs and what gets replaced along the way. We set the whole thing out in what forklift servicing costs in Singapore.

Cost and intervals are answered in full on their own page: what forklift servicing costs in Singapore, including what is in a visit, what is charged separately, and why we normally quote quarterly.

Truck stopped right now?

Before you call anyone, two minutes of checks rules out the ones that are not really breakdowns — a connector, a seat switch, a lever. See forklift not working: what to check before you call.

Frequently asked questions
