A warning light tells a person a forklift is coming. It doesn't stop the forklift if someone doesn't move in time, and it does nothing at all for a truck that clips a rack leg or a pillar. For that, you need something physical in the way — and this is the one product on this page where we can tell you exactly how much of a hit it's built to take.
The manufacturer's own term for it is "elastic collision avoidance." The barrier is a flexible imported polymer, not steel — so instead of denting or shearing off its base on the first serious hit, it flexes on impact and returns to shape. A steel bollard that takes a hard hit once usually needs replacing. This is designed to take repeated hits and keep working, which is the real case for it in a warehouse that gets bumped more than once a year.
The rated figures, with the test condition attached
Never quoted without it. The manufacturer's technical specification rates its MD Triple Barrier at absorbing the impact of a 3-tonne forklift's tail striking the middle of a 1.6 m beam, at 90 degrees, at 3.5 km/h, and separately, the same forklift striking the barrier's bollard section at 90 degrees at 2.95 km/h. Other models in the range are rated differently: the 125mm/160mm/180mm bollards are rated for 90-degree impacts from 1.5-, 3.0- and 5.0-tonne vehicles respectively, at speeds up to 6.0 km/h, depending on model. A dedicated column / rack-leg protection variant is rated for a 3-tonne forklift's tail striking the foot protection at 90 degrees at 3 km/h — the one built specifically to sit at the base of a racking upright, which is directly relevant to the racking work we do ourselves.
This is a genuine product range, not one item: beam-style barriers (MC and MD series, single/double/triple configurations), ground barriers, bollards, swing gates and dock gates, and the rack-leg protection above. Which one fits depends on what you're protecting and where — we work that out against your layout, not off a single catalogue picture.
On the build
The pipe is an imported polymer rated to ISO 4892-3 for UV and chemical resistance — the maker states it won't corrode. The ground connection hardware is metal, treated by electrophoresis or a dacromet coating, and the manufacturer states it withstands up to 1,000 hours of neutral salt-spray testing without rusting. Anchoring uses German-imported reinforcement glue and bolts, built to the PAS 13 standard and TÜV-certified, with a stated tensile load rating that runs from 28kN to 53kN depending on the model. Standard colours are traffic black (RAL 9017) and signal yellow (RAL 1003); some models add grey-white (RAL 9002).
There is no Singapore law mandating this specific barrier — we're not aware of one, and none turned up in the compliance research behind this batch of pages. The case for it is economic and physical: it's cheaper to let a barrier absorb a hit and flex back than to replace a bent racking upright or a damaged column, and cheaper than either is avoiding the injury a hard impact against an unprotected pillar could cause.
